Last August, my friend Andrea and I trained for an 111-mile bike ride called the ULCER which goes around Utah Lake. This year we decided we wanted to do the Little Red Riding Hood which is one of only two all women's century rides in the United States. It was the weekend after school got out, June 6th. Since it is up in Wellsville (just outside of Logan) we decided to spend the night at my sister Kim's house, since she lives in Ogden. We were a little worried the night before because there was a big thunderstorm and it rained all night. The next morning it had stopped raining, but the sky was black and it was freezing! We drove the rest of the way to Logan and we were trying to decide if maybe we should opt for one of the shorter routes because of the weather. We did not want to be camped out on someone's doorstep all day waiting out a lightning storm. We called Steve to check the weather for us in Wellsville and also Preston, Idaho, which was the turn around point. It looked like the weather was supposed to get a little better as the day went on, so we decided to go with the 100! We kept our jackets on most of the time, but the weather held out and it was actually a beautiful day for a ride, not too hot and not too cold. The scenery was gorgeous! We wound up opting for the 67-mile route because Andrea had a long drive to Indiana the very next day and she did not want to be stiff and tired in the car on her trek! It was fun to be part of an all women's ride. The shirts we got are pink and girly! I think it is the cutest shirt I have ever received from any race!!
